The Cottosloe Milk Bar holds a special place in the heart of Cape Woolamai. In fact, it was the very first shop in the area. Long before Cape Woolamai became the beachside community it is today, this land was open grazing country. When the area was subdivided in 1959, a small store was built on Cottosloe Road in 1969 to serve the growing neighbourhood — and it quickly became part of everyday life.

Known fondly as the “back shop,” it was where locals picked up milk and bread, grabbed hot chips after a long beach day, and where kids lined up at the pinball machines. It was a place for live music, friendly catch-ups, and simple moments that turned into lifelong memories.

For generations, this quiet corner by the beach has been about more than convenience — it’s been about connection.

As a local family who grew up just around the corner, this space means everything to us. We grew up walking to this very store for Friday night fish and chips, counting coins for lollie bags, and bumping into familiar faces along the way. Taking on the Cottosloe Milk Bar is incredibly special — it’s our way of keeping those fun memories alive and creating new ones for the next generation.

Today, we’re proud to continue the tradition of this much-loved local store, reimagined as a welcoming community space to enjoy, eat, sip, relax, socialise and stay awhile — just as it’s always been.
